The team at Ilkeston Specsavers put their backs into supporting the charity Get Kids Going! between 2-7 March by taking part in a rowing challenge.
Throughout the week, the team hosted a bake sale, offering up treats in return for donations, as well as holding a raffle with plenty of spec-tacular prizes up for grabs.
The activity culminated on Friday 6 March, when the team – all dressed in sports gear – will take it in turns on the rower in store as they bid to complete 100 miles.
‘One of our customers is running the London marathon next month to help raise funds for the charity and when we heard about what they do, we wanted to get involved,’ said Krishna Parmar, store director.
‘Some of us are fitter than others here at the store, but we were all determined to give it everything we’ve got when we taking to the rower. We were pleased to receive plenty of support from people who popped down to sponsor us, buy a cake, or take part in the raffle.
‘I’d also like to say a big thank you to all the local businesses who have offered their support, by donating items towards the raffle.’
Not only does Get Kids Going! focus on helping disabled young athletes but it also helps to provide manual wheelchairs for children to use every day; at home, at school, and to enable them to play with their friends. The charity believes that all disabled children and young people should receive the right equipment to get them going!
