The store manager at Specsavers Market Drayton is now all ears, as well as eyes, after training to become a hearing aid dispenser.
Gareth Ridge underwent the two-year distance training foundation course to enable him to asses hearing loss, plus prescribe and fit hearing aids.
‘Hearing loss is an invisible barrier to communication that can sometimes leave people feeling isolated and helpless, and so I was keen to see what I could do to help,’ said Gareth, who has been working with Specsavers for the last seven years.
‘With the backing of the store directors, I’ve been fortunate enough to have the necessary training and I’m now really looking forward to helping local people with their hearing needs – offering the same professional, reliable and affordable service as the optical side of the business.’
The store offers hearing clinics every Tuesday, with a plan to increase the service to include an additional day. Customers can benefit from free hearing assessments, alongside advice on hearing aids and a free fitting and aftercare service.
