Two local optical assistants recently completed a physical challenge to raise awareness and vital funds for the Royal Blind charity.

Megan Gartshore and Carol McCallum from Specsavers Glenrothes participated in the night time ‘Supernova 5k’ run at Helix Park, Falkirk, earlier this month and raised £705 for the eye care charity.

Over the moon with fundraising total

‘Royal Blind is a fantastic charity which supports people at home, school and in the work place,’ said Megan. ‘As Carol and I work with visually impaired people every day we are keen to show our support for this great cause.

‘We set a fundraising target of £600 and are over the moon that we surpassed this with the help and support from friends, family and the local community. We are also absolutely delighted that even with the wet conditions we managed to beat our predicted finishing times.‘

Thanks again to everyone for their support.’
