Optical advice for summer
Whether you’re heading off on holiday this summer or enjoying the sun in the UK, it’s important to ensure your and your family’s eyesight is properly protected from UV rays. The team at your local Cambridgeshire store is on-hand to offer advice.
Importance of UV protection
Specsavers staff across Cambridgeshire are raising awareness of the danger UV rays can pose to not only our skin, but our eyes too. The teams are calling on families to ensure that your eyes are properly protected from sun damage and are urging anyone who is spending time in the sun to check their sunglasses to make sure they are fully protected against UV rays.
- Sunglasses should be marked UV 400 to provide sufficient protection from sun damage
- The larger the lens, the more protection they’ll give your eyes as there’s less chance that light will filter in through the sides
- If you are taking prescription sunglasses on holiday, take your optician's phone number with you so that if they break your prescription can be sent to an optician near you so that you can get new ones
