Okehampton pledges support for VAO
Staff from Specsavers Okehampton have been reminding people of the importance of eyecare charity Vision Aid Overseas over National Eye Health Week (21 to 27 September).
Recycling old specs
Specsavers, located on Fore Street, invited the community to hand in their old specs to help people in developing countries. Vision Aid Overseas recycles old specs so proceeds can give eye treatment to those who do not have access to it.
Specsavers Okehampton store director, Karen Reader says: ‘Thousands of people don’t have easy access to high quality eyecare, so we want to change that by supporting charities like Vision Aid Overseas.
Kind donations from the community
‘During National Eye Health Week, we asked people to have a look for any old specs they may have and donate them in store. We'd like to thank everyone for their kind donations throughout the week.’
