Inspiring youngsters from across the North East were among those recently recognised with the British Citizen Youth Awards (BCyA), in association with Specsavers.
Jack Thompson, Benjamin Harbottle, Andrew and James Lunn, Marcus Weston, Isaac Mendelsohn and Harry Steel from the region were among 26 young people honoured by the BCyA across the UK for their exceptional achievements, from fundraising to campaigning.
Their efforts raised cash for worthy causes including Cardiac Risk in the Young, Maggie’s Cancer Care, Alzheimer’s Awareness, Brain Tumour Research, Butterwick Hospice, Heel & Toe and CLIC Sargent, while their campaigns tackled topics from mental health to anti-bullying.
Dame Mary Perkins, Co-Founder of Specsavers and BCyA Patron, said: 'These unsung heroes are the rising stars of the future – let us shine a light on them and celebrate. I hope that many more youngsters will follow in their footsteps.'
The BCyA highlights the individual acts of bravery, kindness and compassion from young people under the age of 18 across the UK.
