Cricket umpire Norman Rogers was bowled over after being announced as the winner of The Best Umpire Award in the Cotswold Hills League – attributing his accolade to his improved vision thanks to a pair of specs from Specsavers in Kenilworth.
Norman, from Leek Wootton, has been supported by the team at Specsavers for the last couple of years, donning a ‘I did go to Specsavers’ umpire coat as well as receiving specs from the store.
He beat more than 70 other umpires from across the league to pick up the award, and was delighted to be crowned the best. ‘I’m chuffed to bits to have received this recognition,’ he said. ‘I got all good or outstanding marks in every game I umpired and so I’d say the new glasses obviously worked. It just goes to show you should go to Specsavers!’
