Rugby fever is in the air, and the Guinness PRO 12 Trophy is coming to Newtownards, thanks to the local team at Specsavers.
Specsavers Newtownards on High Street will have the coveted Guinness PRO12 Trophy on display on the morning of Tuesday 20th October, for staff, customers and rugby fanatics to get up-close and even get a “selfie” with the cup.
The opticians have also teamed up with Sportsbeat in Newtownards to giveaway a fantastic prize to celebrate the arrival of the silverware in the town. Customers will be able to enter at either store to win a family ticket (2 adults, 2 children) to the Ulster v Cardiff match on Friday 23rd October, and an Ulster Rugby shirt donated by Sportsbeat.
As an official sponsor of the Guinness PRO12 match officials and referees, Specsavers is also the official optician and hearing services partner of the Guinness PRO12, providing expert eye care for players and officials, ensuring no ‘should’ve gone to Specsavers’ moments on the pitch.
Leigh Nelson, store director at the Ards store said; ‘We have plenty of rugby fanatics within the team here who are really looking forward to getting their hands on the trophy! As well as that, we have some fantastic goodies for those who stop by to be in with a chance of winning match tickets for the Cardiff Blues match at the Kingspan Stadium and an Ulster Rugby shirt, courtesy of our friends at Sports Beat.’ The PRO12 Trophy Tour is also a chance to highlight the importance of eye health in sport, particularly a contact sport like rugby. Leigh continued: ‘Not only is it important to have your eyes in the best of health when playing sports, but for those who do need extra help, we are able to give advice on what would suit the player best, from contact lenses to prescription sports goggles.’
