Newtownards store supports children’s charity
The Specsavers store in Newtownards are helping to raise funds throughout August in support of Downtown Radio and Cool FM’s Cash for Kids. Throughout the month, the store will have collection buckets located at the till for customers to make a donation, and the team will also be on hand to offer free glasses cleaning and repair services in return for a small donation made to Cash for Kids.
Additionally, on Thursday 28 August, the staff from the Newtownards store will be dressing up as well-known Disney characters. They will be handing out balloons to children and encouraging the local community to donate any unwanted change into the Cash for Kids collection buckets.
Leigh Nelson, store director, said: ‘We wanted to get involved with Downtown Radio and Cool FM’s Cash for Kids as we see the excellent fundraising work they undertake year-on-year, and we want to be able to give something back to the local community. Every penny counts and we’d like to reach a target of £250.’
Cash for Kids helps thousands of disadvantaged children all over Northern Ireland each year, by supporting individuals and groups who apply directly to the charity for help, as well as other charities who provide services to children in Northern Ireland. Everything the charity does is for the benefit of children and young people aged 0 – 17 with a focus on alleviating disability, combating illness and improving quality of life, as well as encouraging personal development and aspirational fulfilment.
Stephanie Laverty, charity manager, comments: ‘We are delighted that the Newtownards Specsavers store is getting involved and raising funds to help us support disadvantaged children all over Northern Ireland. Every pound raised stays in Northern Ireland to support children in our own local communities.’
