A local woman has praised the newly-opened Ophthalmic Diagnostic Treatment Centre (ODTC) and its team at Specsavers in Newport in a letter to the South Wales Argus.
First of its kind centre
Launched in a bid to reduce waiting times for assessment, diagnosis and treatment, the centre is the first of its kind in the UK to see a high street opticians provide initial screening and referrals for people with symptoms of Wet Age-related Macular Degeneration (Wet AMD).
The centre sees NHS staff deliver treatment for the condition from the same high street location.
Calm, spacious and relaxed atmosphere
Pam Watkins said: ‘As a macular degeneration patient, receiving regular Lucentis injections, I feel I must comment on the lovely new clinic now on the first floor at Specsavers.
‘It’s calm, spacious and relaxed atmosphere, with easy access and wonderful staff, almost make the injections a pleasure.
‘We are all quick enough to knock the NHS but not so fast to praise it.
‘Thanks to the team.’
At Specsavers we always strive to provide the highest level of service and care to all our customers so it's fantastic to receive such positive feedback!
