The Newport Specsavers opticians has raised £150 in aid of the Wales Deaf Rugby Union (WDRU).

Specsavers kicked off a week-long fundraising event with the help of WDRU members Dan Vella and Simon Liles, who called in store to meet both staff and customers.

Raffle

The store also had some rugby raffle prizes up for grabs, including a signed Newport Gwent Dragons Rugby jersey and a pair of tickets to the Dragons vs. Connacht game, with money from raffle tickets being donated to the Union.

Community support

Store director, Jason Williams, says: ‘We would like to thank all members of the local community who called in store and helped support this event and I know that the Wales Deaf Rugby Union will put the money raised to excellent use.'
