Specsavers Newbury store director, Gary Alexander has won the Individual European Long Range Championships for shooting.

Perfect game

Gary shot a perfect 50 out of 50 game at 1,000 yards, catapulting him to the top of the table once again, just two years after he last won the championships.

As captain of the Ireland team, Gary also continued to provide eye care for all of his team mates and was at hand to advise competitors on their eye health.

Eyecare advice

Gary said: ‘I’m thrilled to have won the championships and that I managed to defend my title.

‘It’s the last major competition of the year, so it’s a great end to 2014. I also feel I’ve managed to help the other shooters as well by being at hand to give them eyecare advice. It’s a sport where accuracy is key and having clear eyesight is fundamental.’
