A mini ‘beast from the east’ didn’t stand in the way of Specsavers staff and customers as Sainsbury’s store manager, Mark Prout officially welcomed the town’s second Specsavers to the store.
This is the third Specsavers store to open in a Sainsbury’s in the South West so far and is located inside the Willow superstore. It will complement the existing service provided by Specsavers Torquay in the town centre and marks the expansion of eye care services at another convenient location for local people.
Mr Prout was given a guided tour of the new facilites and introduced to the new team. He also met with some of the eight fully-qualified healthcare professionals led by store manager and fully-qualified dispensing optician, Steve Parker.
Sainsbury’s store manager Mark Prout, said: ‘We are delighted to welcome Specsavers to our Sainsbury’s Willow store. We’re always looking for ways to provide customers with greater choice and convenience and this is a great example of how we are broadening our in-store offer to give shoppers even more reasons to visit Sainsbury’s.'
Dispensing optician Holly Andrew will lead a team of optical assistants at the Willow store, including Sam Blaynee, Lewis Allsopp and Natalie Collins. In addition, future optometrists Agi Solya and Sylie Antrobus will join the team from the Plymouth University optometry course.
Torquay Specsavers store directors Simon Simmonds and Graham Gordon said: ‘In addition to great service we will also be offering the most up-to-date technology to provide enhanced eye tests, including an optical coherence tomography (OCT) scanner. This is hospital-grade technology that provides a 3D scan of the eye. Thanks to this technology we are able to identify potentially sight-threatening conditions much earlier than previously thought.’
Simon added: ‘We’re very excited to open this new store here at the Willows as it brings together the ease of your weekly shop whilst ensuring your eye health is up to date. The team and I look forward to welcoming you.’
