A new store director has joined the team at Specsavers Keynsham following the completion of a rigorous internal development programme.
Meet Vinay Solanki
Vinay Solanki, who lives in Clifton, is now an optometrist director after successfully graduating from the opticians’ Pathway programme. He is already part of the Specsavers family, having started working at the Leicester store in 2004 before studying optometry at Aston University in Birmingham.
After he graduated, Vinay moved to the Nuneaton store where he completed his pre-reg year to become a fully qualified optician. Stints in Bedworth, Rugby and Weston-super-Mare followed before he joined the team at Keynsham where he will work alongside retail director Richard Alexander who has been at the store for 16 years.
A word from the new store director
‘It’s fantastic to be part of the team here at Keynsham,’ said Vinay. ‘We’re passionate about our local community so that is going to be a real focus for Richard and I and we’re also hoping to build on the recent expansion which saw us go from three to five test rooms.
‘Pathway was a really valuable experience and I learnt a lot as it was pretty intensive. We covered modules including finance, leadership and brand management and we all had to implement a project in store. It’s great to now finally be able to put everything I leant into practice. Everyone’s been really welcoming so far and I can’t wait to get stuck in.’
