Belfast High School’s 1st XV have secured backing from Specsavers stores in Abbeycentre and Bangor.

The stores, owned by Tony McGinn and Stuart Douglas, are jointly sponsoring the rugby team’s 2019/2020 season’s kit.

Longstanding rugby traditions

Rugby is a key sport within the school, which was founded in 1854 and rugby alumni include former Ireland, Ulster and current BBC NI pundit Maurice Field as well as past Ireland and Ulster player Dennis McBride and ex Ulster players Mark McCrea and Gary Leslie.

Good wishes to the team for the season’s games

Abbeycentre optometry director, Tony McGinn, said: ‘Belfast High School has strong sporting traditions and I’m thrilled to join forces with Stuart from Specsavers in Bangor to support the school in funding new rugby kit. We’d like to wish the team the very best for upcoming matches and in the Schools’ Cup.’
