New hearing service launched for Kirkintilloch
A new hearing service has launched in Kirkintilloch, offering locals free in-store hearing tests and advice on hearing protection and loss.
The high-tech Specsavers Hearing Centre – based in the store at 32-34 Cowgate – will bring years of experience in taking care of the nation’s hearing to the area.
This latest investment in new equipment and training comes just three months after the store’s state-of-the-art refurbishment which included an additional test room.
The store’s hearing centre opens on 4 and 5 October, with the weekly clinic taking place each Monday, commencing on 12 October. Longstanding member of staff Arisha McGuigan has begun a two-year hearing aid dispenser course and will head up the new hearing centre once fully qualified.
In the meantime, a qualified hearing aid dispenser will work alongside Arisha each Monday. Arisha has been a dispensing optician and store manager since the store opened eight years ago.
Taking care of locals’ ears
Neil Drain, store director of Specsavers Kirkintilloch, said: ‘It’s incredibly exciting to expand our offering to take care of locals’ eyes and ears.
‘This further significant store investment is part of our continued pledge to deliver the best possible service we can. I’m confident that we’ll provide a quality, convenient and thorough hearing assessment, hearing aid and aftercare service.
‘Arisha is a very experienced member of our team. I’m delighted that she’s now training to become a hearing aid dispenser and I’m sure she’ll excel throughout her course.’
As well as offering free hearing tests, the Specsavers Hearing Centre professionals can tell customers everything they need to know about the incredible digital hearing aids available.
Digital hearing aids
Designed and built by world-leading manufacturers including Phonak, Siemens and Widex, Specsavers’ digital aids feature the latest innovations in hearing assistance – they even know when the wearer is at home or in a favourite restaurant and adapt accordingly.
Stephen Kelman, director of audiology at the Specsavers Hearing Centre, said: ‘Specsavers Hearing Centres have been available across the majority of the UK for many years so we’re thrilled to offer our experience and innovative digital hearing aids to a wider audience.
‘We would welcome anyone to contact the Kirkintilloch store for a free hearing assessment with our highly trained team or to ask advice on hearing problems.’
