New hearing service for Loughborough
Specsavers in Loughborough will celebrate the opening of a new dedicated hearing service at its store on Saturday 10 January.
The store now offers free comprehensive hearing checks and is celebrating the launch with a special party for visiting customers. Staff will be joined by a giant walking ear and will be handing out giveaways, information and advice to passers-by.
A simple three-minute hearing screening test is now routinely carried out in store for customers over 40. If a defect is shown, a full free hearing test is advised and this takes around an hour.
Deepna Mistry, hearing director and audiologist at Specsavers in Loughborough, says: ‘We’re very keen to increase awareness amongst the residents of Loughborough and the surrounding area and educate them about the importance of getting their hearing checked. One in seven people in the UK suffer from some sort of hearing problem, with hearing quality deteriorating with age.
‘Most people know that it’s important to get your eyes tested regularly, but fewer people realise the importance of having hearing checks. Unlike sight loss, hearing loss is a gradual process that may not be noticed until significant loss of aural awareness has occurred.’
Hearing clinics take place at the store every Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 9am – 5pm.
