Two team members at Specsavers in Dagenham have successfully completed courses set by the Wales Optometry Postgraduate Education Centre (WOPEC) in order to offer greater levels of eye care to their customers.

Gurjit Singh Sehmi, store director and optometrist, and Rizwan Aswat, lead optometrist, have both received certificates for finishing the Local Optical Committee Support Unit (LOCSU) Glaucoma Level 1 and 2 modules. The courses provide extensive training on handling cases of chronic open angle glaucoma (COAG) and ocular hypertension (OHT).

Always learning

Gurjit says: ‘The qualifications have helped us to enhance our knowledge of glaucoma diagnosis and management, and will enable us to provide even better care for our patients.’

The move comes as Specsavers Dagenham prepares to show its support for National Eye Health Week (18-24 September), a national campaign promoting the importance of eye health and encouraging the public to have regular sight tests.
