Julie Hilling, MP for Bolton West, has called on constituents to have regular eye tests at opticians.

Ms Hilling met with Matthew Thornton, principal optometrist at Specsavers in Middlebrook, to discuss why having regular eye checks is so vital in the prevention of sight loss and blindness.

As a Lancashire local optical committee chairman, Ms Hilling said: 'Eye sight problems [that] people suffer from are preventable through the early detection.

'Regular eye tests are a simple and practical way to maintain good eye health and look after your eyes.'
