Morley store helps local schools put children’s safety first
As National Road Safety Week approaches, Specsavers in Morley has pledged to keep local school children safe and is calling out for local schools to get in touch, if they require high visibility vests.
The team in Morley have launched the campaign to increase the safety of local children when out and about, by making it easier for motorists to spot them, when their learning takes them into the community, or when they’re out on school trips.
Making it clearer for motorists
Pratik Patel, store director at Morley Specsavers, commented: ‘At this time of year with the dark mornings and nights, combined with the winter weather, it can be difficult for motorists to see pedestrians, and dusk is particularly hazardous when the children are walking home from school.
‘With this in mind we decided that, as part of Road Safety Week, we want to help increase the safety of children in Morley and have 20 high visibility vests to give away to 10 local schools.
‘As part of the initiative, we are also hoping to raise awareness of free glasses and eye tests that are available to under 16-year-olds. It is important to make sure that children have regular eye tests as an undetected problem could lead to something more severe in the long term.’
