Monmouth welcomes Gruffalo colouring competition winners
Specsavers in Monmouth opticians has welcomed the winners of its Gruffalo colouring competition into its store to coincide with the launch of a new children’s spectacle range.
Peter Render, store director at Specsavers in Monmouth, said: ‘At Specsavers, we know that having an eye test and getting glasses may be a bit of a daunting prospect for little ones and so we try to make the experience as enjoyable as possible, which is why we hosted our recent colouring competition.
‘Coinciding the competition with the launch of our new Gruffalo inspired spectacles was a great way to kick off having the frames here at Specsavers in Monmouth. The Gruffalo has been a firm favourite for years and we hope our winners enjoy their much-deserved prizes.’
Staff at Specsavers in Monmouth held the event to accompany the unveiling of the new Gruffalo frames, which were inspired by the children’s book character.
The Gruffalo was written by author and playwright Julia Donaldson, who has sold more than 13.5 million picture books worldwide. It has been translated into more than 60 languages and a film based on the book was released in 2009.
Elizabeth Summers, age four, won first prize in the store’s colouring competition, for her picture of the Gruffalo. She collected her animal toy and activity book in her new Specsavers frames.
The store also gave a Gruffalo DVD and activity book to the runners up of the competition.
