The store manager at Specsavers in Monmouth has gained an ILM3 certificate after completing a course designed to develop management skills.
Emily Tamplin, based at the store on Monnow Street, has completed the qualification to enable her to take part in the Specsavers Pathway programme, with the intention of training to become a store director.
The course covered a range of different training relating to management such as the power of team engagement, influential leadership and how to get the best results out of a team. To complete the course, Emily completed assignments and took part in a number of training days.
An in-store project focussing on increasing transaction values ran throughout the course, and Emily had to give a presentation about the results and how the training had helped.
Peter Render, store director at Specsavers in Monmouth, said: ‘In a managerial role, it is important to understand the various aspects of leadership, and it was great to see Emily develop her skills over the course of the six months.
‘Specsavers encourages staff to advance in their careers in terms of supervisory positions as well as health qualifications as ultimately, a more confident in-store team means a happier customer.’
