The management team at Specsavers Milton Keynes would like to say a big thank you to its staff and local residents for supporting a great cause over Christmas.

Supporting a great charity
The team decided to support The Food Bank, an initiative that helps to ensure that no child or adult goes hungry in Milton Keynes, during the month of December last year.  The managers also supplemented the food parcel donation with a cheque presentation of £250.

Helping those in need
The charity's services help people like ‘Amy’- a single mother of three who sustained an accident at work and was unable to support herself and her children on statutory sick pay alone. With the support of Food Bank she was able to feed her family, eventually returning to work once she had recovered.

Delighted by the response
Steve Moore, store director said: ‘Lots of customers, staff and friends of our colleagues were very generous with the food collection. We were delighted with the response."

Nicholas Brinner, Business Partnership Manager at the The Food Bank said: ‘We are thrilled to have had the support of Specsavers.  To date, we have donated over 8,000 parcels in the local community.  Nobody should have the pressure and stress of feeding a family and the cash donation will go to great use.”

The great work of The Food Bank
The charity works with local community projects to run six serving sessions during the week from Monday to Saturday in five separate locations. In addition, they run a mobile service once a week on a Tuesday that calls at seven more remote locations in and around the city. Those in need can get access to information and help on other related issues such as counselling, debt advice, and housing support.
