Party time in Mexborough to celebrate relaunch

Staff at Mexborough Specsavers raised a fantastic £380 for Macmillan last weekend. They were celebrating the expansion of their store, at a fun-filled day packed with activities, charity fund-raising and a VIP appearance.

Hayley Jo, star of the recent Specsavers Zumba TV advert, spent the day in-store on Saturday 26th September, getting the party going with a series of short Zumba workouts for anyone who wanted to join in.

To kick off the festivities, Hayley Jo cut the ribbon at 12 noon, before taking a tour of the facilities and meeting customers and staff.

Renowned balloon artist Mister Twister was also in store, producing his weird and wonderful balloon creations to surprise and amaze the kids.

For a good cause
The grand re-launch of the store took place during the week of Macmillan Coffee Morning, so the Mexborough Specsavers team organised a day of fundraising with proceeds all going to Macmillan. Specsavers staff popped on their pinnies to bake a whole host of tasty treats for customers to enjoy in return for donations to the cause.

Speaking about the grand re-opening, Lorna Armitage, retail director at Specsavers in Mexborough, said: ‘We had a fab time showing off our revamped store, not only because it was a fun-filled day, but also because in the longer term, it means we can provide an even better service to our loyal customers.

‘I’ll be moving on to a different store soon, and leaving the Mexborough Specsavers store in the safe hands of the new director, Andy Bryer. This was a fantastic way to say goodbye after nine wonderful years in Mexborough.’

Cutting edge redevelopment
Mexborough Specsavers has invested more than £150,000 to expand onto a second floor and transform their services. The cutting edge renovation, combining the latest eyecare and retail technology, provide a highly professional and ultra-modern service.

The store’s traditional reception desks have been replaced by mobile, standing and seated service points, and customers are now greeted and registered on tablet devices, which are also used to measure and dispense their glasses. The concept, which is being rolled out across all Specsavers stores, is the first of its kind in optics.

Macmillan works with those affected by cancer, including carers, families and communities, to provide practical, emotional and physical support to those affected by cancer. They are also a force for change, aiming to improve cancer care.
