The team at a local opticians has raised more than £300 for a cancer support charity after setting up a cake and coffee stall in Mexborough at the weekend.
Inspired by the Great British Bake Off, staff at Mexborough Specsavers whipped up tables full of tasty treats to be sold at the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in exchange for much-needed donations to Macmillan Cancer Support.
Generous customers and passers-by dug deep for the worthy cause, helping the team raise a fantastic £335.
A global event
The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning 2016 has so far raised more than £750,000, after people from all over the country came together to enjoy delicious baked goods and hot drinks, to raise money and show their support.
Andy Bryer, store director at Mexborough Specsavers was delighted to be involved: ‘I’d like to thank everyone who made a donation at our cake and coffee stall as the Mexborough community was incredibly generous.
‘More than 2.5 million people are living with cancer in the UK and this is increasing. Macmillan Cancer Support carries out brilliant work in our local community and it’s a charity that we are certainly proud to support.
