Aspiring bakers from Specsavers in Melksham will be raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support by taking part in the ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’.
Members of staff will be putting their best bakes forward and are inviting customers and passers-by to enjoy a cup of coffee or tea with a delicious slice of home-made cake on Friday 30 September in exchange for donations to the national charity.
Thrilled to be taking part
‘We all know someone affected by cancer,’ commented store director Martyn Thomas. ‘That’s why the work Macmillan does is so important, and we’re thrilled to be taking part in the coffee morning. Our aim will be to raise as much money as possible for the charity and enjoy some wonderful cakes while we’re at it!’
The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan’s biggest fundraising event. Each year, the charity invites people across the UK to host their own coffee mornings, with last year’s event raising more than £25 million.
Macmillan Cancer Support provides financial, emotional and medical support to cancer sufferers and their families. There are more than 2.5 million people living with cancer in the UK alone.
‘This coffee morning is all about local people coming together to do their bit for a great cause,’ Martyn continued. ‘We would like to encourage as many people as possible to visit us in store and raise funds that will make a difference in the lives of people across the country.’
