Meet your Dispenser at Kings Lynn
Laura Playford, dispenser at Kings Lynn, started working at Specsavers as a frame stylist while working towards her A levels, when she was only 16 years old. Ten years later and she is a valued member of staff and full-time dispenser.
Support and success
Laura, 26, originally from Newport, South Wales, began working in her home town 10 years ago as a frame stylist. She then moved to Kings Lynn when her partner was relocated in the RAF, and she went on to advance her career with the Kings Lynn store. They now have a 3 year old son and after returning to work from maternity leave Laura is now a dispenser, sharing a total of 4 years with the Kings Lynn store as well as being Cert 3 qualified and on her way up to Cert 4.
Laura credits her directors throughout the time she has spent at Specsavers for helping her achieve her goals, but most of all her current store directors at Kings Lynn, Mark Willis and Gurvinder Tatra. Both of whom provided her with support after the birth of her first child, enabling her to ease back into her role as a dispenser, increasing her hours as and when was comfortable for her. Laura says of the team: ‘nothing was ever too much trouble’.
A comment from Laura
Laura said: ‘I love the customer interaction I get as a dispenser, I’m a people person and it’s lovely to be able to get to know my customers while serving the local community.
‘The store and company have really helped me with my career advancement providing me with all of my qualifications since I started. My goal is to qualify for a DO (Dispensing Opticians) course and I’m very excited for the opportunities it will provide me with.’
