The Borehamwood and Hoddesdon store director has had quite the varied career. We hear about how he ended up in optometry and what he enjoys most about his job.
From a love of the sea to a love of helping people see
Lee wasn’t always in the optometry profession. Prior to working at Specsavers, Lee actually spent many years serving in the Royal Navy. Whilst on the surface there may not be many similarities between the two professions, Lee says he is passionate about what he does and truly believes that optometry has the power to change lives.
Lee says his favourite aspect of working in optometry is giving people with sight problems opportunities they otherwise wouldn’t have. He enjoys building trust with his customers and says he always tries to imagine everyone he is helping is one of his family. He is also passionate about providing training opportunities for youths in the local area, often taking on apprentices in his stores.
In his spare time
It’s been awhile since Lee has had much spare time - he has only recently graduated from an audiology degree, which he studied on the side of working at both his stores. When he’s not earning yet another qualification, Lee enjoys spending time with his family and playing music – acoustic guitar, electric guitar and drums to name a few.
