Specsavers in Crouch End celebrated its seventh anniversary this year. Retail director Tarloak Sandhu, who opened the store in 2010, explains what it’s like to look after the eye care of the local community.
A close-knit team
Tarloak said: ‘I’ve worked in the store since we opened seven years ago and since then we’ve doubled the team from five to 10 staff. We’re a very close-knit team and everyone enjoys meeting new people each day.
‘I’ve been in optics for nearly 20 years and over the years I’ve seen the industry develop in terms of technology and customer care, so we’re now better equipped than ever to deliver a great service. We’ve built up a loyal customer base and have got to know the community well.
'We’ve made a conscious decision to employ local people too, which makes a huge difference when offering our services to the people of Crouch End.’
Friendly and professional team
Tarloak, who lives locally with his wife and son, says he’s a people person. He added: ‘Throughout my career I’ve always enjoyed dealing with people. One of my favourite parts of my job is meeting new customers and helping to address their needs, which change from person to person.
‘Helping to develop staff and seeing them progress is something I find hugely rewarding too and I’m lucky that we have such a friendly, professional team here in Crouch End.’
