Meet the new store director in the Bishopbriggs store, 29-year-old Angela Siu. Angela was born and raised in Glasgow, but her roots are in Hong Kong where her family originate from. In her spare time you can find Angela dining in new restaurants or experimenting in the kitchen - she is a big food lover!
Angela was eight years old when she got her first pair of glasses, which were from Specsavers. She was fascinated by all the equipment in the test room during her eye test and found the whole process really interesting.
Ten years later, she applied to study optometry at Glasgow Caledonian University and started working with Specsavers part-time, alongside her studies. Angela then completed her pre-registration year within Specsavers in 2011 and became a fully qualified optician. Six years later she became a store director within the Bishopbriggs store.
What Angela loves about her job
Angela said, ‘I knew from an early age that I wanted a career that involved helping others in some way. Being an optometrist involves giving the gift of sight which is really my favourite part of my job. This is either through prescribing glasses, contact lenses or the early detection of ocular problems. It gives me great satisfaction knowing I have helped my customers in one way or another.’
