March office manager, Gemma Ashby, would have never expected to have a career in the eyecare industry. However, she has now been with Specsavers for almost a decade and she couldn’t be happier.

A change in direction
Gemma, 34, who is March born and bred, began her working life at the tender age of 16 for the family business. She stayed for eight years, before deciding she would like a change in direction, and that is when she found Specsavers. From the moment she stepped through the doors, Gemma knew that she was with the right company. And it didn’t take her long to work her way up the ranks.

Starting in the Ely store answering phones and assisting customers with their queries, she soon found herself on the shop floor as a contact lens dispenser. And in 2013 she joined March Specsavers as office manager.

Gemma credits her entire team along with director, Trevor Clark, for helping her achieve success in the business and for challenging and trusting in her to deliver. She has consistently proven them right by her dedication and commitment to her customers.
