Tell us a bit about yourself
I’m 37 years old, married to Aileen and I have two daughters – Emma, seven, and Nicola, six. I enjoy cycling with the family and sport in general.
How did you come to run a Specsavers store?
Having worked all over Scotland was looking for an opportunity to run my own store.
Do you wear specs, and if so, what is your favourite style?
I’m an occasional spectacle wearer. I really like my FCUK frames – they’re nice and wide fitting for a slightly larger than average head.
What does your job at Specsavers involve?
Most of my time is spent in the test room looking after our patients’ eyesight and eye health whilst helping them get the best vision with spectacles and contact lenses.
How long have you been with the company? Six and a half years
What is the best part of your role?
Seeing the positive feedback on our customer feedback MAZE system and having patients coming back to us time and time again.
Any challenges? Splitting my time between the test room and other duties in the store.
How many members of staff do you have working at your store? There are nine altogether.
Why is it so important to get your eyes checked regularly?
Regular eye checks allow any eye problems to be picked up and treated at the earliest possible opportunity, which helps protect your vision. Sometimes general health problems can also be found as a result of an eye examination – another good reason to get your eyes checked regularly.
Does your store also offer hearing aids and hear care? Yes we do.
Who should consider getting a hearing test? Anyone over the age of 40 who is concerned about their hearing.
How can patients book an eye or hearing test? Either pop into the store, phone us on 01698 354 260 or request an appointment online.
