Meet the Ballymena team
Specsavers in Fairhill Shopping Centre has been operating for over 20 years. Owned and managed by store directors Valerie Penney and Adrian Murdoch, the store currently employs 30 staff locally. Store manager, Jackie Douglas, has also worked in the store since it opened in 1994.
Providing the most professional service and highest quality customer care is of paramount importance to Valerie and Adrian. They continually invest in all of their team providing ongoing training to ensure that they are always up-to-date with the best health and style advice. Eight pre-registration students have successfully completed qualifications to become registered optometrists. Three of the store’s optical assistants have qualified as dispensing opticians.
In the Ballymena store there are qualified hearing professionals who are trained to find the best solution for each individual customer’s hearing needs. Every Tuesday customers can avail of a full hearing test which takes an hour and is carried out by audiologist Joanne Torrens. The store also offers free three minute ear screening seven days a week which will quickly identify if more testing is needed.
Valerie and Adrian are committed to offering the very best services to meet the optical and hearing needs of the local Ballymena community. They have invested in the latest optical technology such as digital retinal photography. A one hour service from their onsite dispensing lab allows customers speedy access to their new glasses. Contact lens customers have a floor dedicated solely for their use. A re-fit later this year will add two more optical testing rooms to the existing four.
