Meet Rory Brannan, the in-store trainer at Specsavers Corstorphine.

Tell us a bit about yourself

I'm originally from Edinburgh, but spent five years in Blair Atholl working in high-end fashion retailing. I joined the Gyle Centre team in 2013, transferring some of my skills into bespoke frame selection and eyewear fashion advice. I currently live in Edinburgh and enjoy art, travel guitar, computers and information technology.

Do you wear specs, and if so what is your favourite style?

I have many different styles, but am currently wearing a new patented technology called Turboflex that uses extremely lightweight plastics materials with vertical and horizontal sprung hinges.

Tell us about your job and the experience you have?

I have a wide knowledge of frames and lenses, strengthened by time spent making glasses in the laboratory.

I joined the team at Corstorphine in 2017 and have drawn upon my experience to deliver in-store training. However, I’m continuing my learning journey with the Specsavers Certified Optical Dispenser Cert 4 course.

Tell us about any additional services you offer?

We have some valuable technology called Frame Styler, which performs a facial scan, and provides shape and style recommendations based on the data. I'm excited about this technology edge to help inform optimal patient choice and satisfaction.

How can patients book an eye test?

A fantastic service offered by Specsavers is a home visit for patients who can no longer make the trip into store.

It's important we can offer this as regular sight tests cover eye health as well as vision. In store appointments can be made on 0131 334 8241, or alternatively can be made easily online.
