The team at Specsavers in Market Harborough celebrated May fourth (Star Wars Day) in style while raising more than £250 for Help for Heroes.
Specsavers on St Mary’s Place hosted experts in Jedi training from Loughborough who gave short lessons and demonstrations in lightsaber combat, while a local dance school traded their usual clobber for stormtrooper costumes as they recreated well-known routines throughout the afternoon.
There was the opportunity to have a photo taken with Darth Vader, or get into the spirit of the day with Star Wars themed face painting. The team also held a raffle, where the top prize was a Darth Vader helmet.
Store director, Barry Henning, said: ‘We all have some kind of military connection, whether modern or historical, so we chose to support Help for Heroes. It’s a fantastic charity providing support to veterans with injuries and illnesses sustained while serving in the armed forces.
‘We made a lot of people smile as well as raising hundreds of pounds, so it was a great day for us, a huge thank you to everyone involved.’
