Long term vision lands career in eyecare at Bath opticians
Alex Proudman from Specsavers Bath has secured an optical assistant role after recently graduating from an apprenticeship programme.
Alex will now take on a full-time role in the store after completing the one year Specsavers Optical Apprenticeship programme. As an optical assistant, Alex will be supporting the team in offering excellent service and eyecare to customers.
‘This journey has been a pivotal point in my career development. I now have a recognised qualification, valuable experience in the optical industry and a role that allows me the chance to engage with our customers every day,’ said Alex. ‘It was a great opportunity and I am looking forward to putting my knowledge to good use in this environment.’

Phil Lodge, store director at Bath Specsavers, said: ‘Career development is very important to us and our apprenticeship programme is a brilliant way to encourage staff to learn new skills and progress in the industry. We are then able to offer our customers the very best eye care and service, which is the most important part of our job.

Specsavers Optical Apprenticeship programme
The Specsavers Optical Apprenticeship programme is the UK’s largest government-accredited scheme with more than 240 people enrolled and includes the completion of the Level 2 Diploma in Optics. The store is currently recruiting for a new candidate to partake in the apprenticeship programme.
