Staff on Guide Dogs Week
Staff raised over £1,000

SPECSAVERS in Dumfries has raised over £1,000 for Guide Dogs Scotland.

To mark National Guide Dogs Week, staff organised a special fun day on Friday 10 October.

Awareness week
Dressed in bright outfits to tie in with the ‘glowing’ theme of the awareness week, staff hosted fun activities for customers of all ages including a tombola, cake stall and face painting.

At the start of the week, reception manager Sharon Currie took part in the 10k Great Scottish Run in Glasgow and raised over £100 in sponsorship.

Over £1,000 raised
Donations in store amounted to a fantastic £520 – and store directors have generously matched the amount raised to give a grand total of £1,040.

Store director Jill Dickson says: ‘We would like to thank customers for the generosity they have shown, and to thank staff for all their hard work in organising the fun day. We’re absolutely delighted with the amount we’ve raised.

‘Guide Dogs Scotland carries out vital work in communities across Scotland and raising money for them is very important to us.’
