Local opticians colourmetry test offer

07 November, 2014

Our store previously provided the unique service of colourmetry testing to customers suffering from visual stress (Meare-Irlen Syndrome).

Visual stress is sensitivity to visual patterns but particularly stripes. In some individuals this condition can cause visual perception problems which interfere with reading.

Symptoms of visual stress

The symptoms can often include movement of printed text, blurring of print, letters size or shape, seeing patterns in print, halos of colour surrounding text and tiring easily when reading.

This condition can affect anyone at any age but is most common in those suffering from learning difficulties such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, photosensitive epilepsy, autism and ADHD.

David Nicolson, store director at Specsavers in Workington, said: ‘We were delighted to be able to offer this additional service to our customers.

‘Visual stress can be extremely uncomfortable and a great strain on anyone who suffers from the condition. I would urge anyone who is concerned about this to pop into the store for a chat with a member of the team.’

Please note that this offer has now expired.
