Local opticians help youngsters find the formula for motoring success
Specsavers in Livingston helped a group of schoolchildren reach the final of an international competition to design a Formula 1 racing car.
The opticians threw its weight behind Team Apex, from Deans Community High School in Livingston, by providing £600 worth of sponsorship.
The youngsters reached the final stage of the Formula 1 in Schools Challenge -which spanned 40 countries and more than 20 million schoolchildren - with their innovatively designed miniature Formula 1 car.
The six-strong team travelled to Sentosa Island, Singapore to take part in the finals in September, finishing a commendable 27th out of 47 teams from across the world.
A word from our store director

“The entire team at Specsavers was rooting for Team Apex when they reached the world final in Singapore and they did us proud by giving such a great account of themselves.” Specsavers sponsored both Team Apex’s car and “pit uniforms” word by the team during the world finals.
