Specsavers helps Colwyn Bay school children put safety first
To mark National Road Safety Week (17- 23 November), Specsavers Colwyn Bay pledged to raise awareness about road safety among local school children by donating high visibility vests to local primary schools.
200 vests donated
The store in Colwyn Bay donated 200 vests to Ysgol Pen-Y-Bryn.
Erica Chapman, director at Specsavers Colwyn Bay, comments: ‘At this time of year with the dark mornings and nights, combined with increasingly wintery weather, it can be difficult for motorists to see pedestrians. Many children are walking home from school at dusk, which is a particularly hazardous time.
Staying safe on the way to and from school
‘With this in mind, we decided to team up with the Llandudno store and spread the message of Road Safety Week while increasing the safety of children in the area by donating a total of 400 high visibility vests to local schools.
Free glasses and eye tests for under 16s
‘As part of the initiative, we are also hoping to raise awareness of free glasses and eye tests that are available to under 16-year-olds. Regular eye tests are important, as early detection can reduce the risk of serious eye problems in the long term.’
