Bathgate opticians encourage Bathgate community to look after their sight
To mark World Sight Day Specsavers in Bathgate encouraged the local community to have regular eye checks.
The store is promoting the importance of eye health and having sight tests every two years.
The world awareness day aims to highlight the fact that, in many cases, blindness caused by eye conditions is avoidable by having regular checks.
A number of conditions can also be detected by eye exams including a variety of diseases including glaucoma, diabetes, high blood pressure and, in rare cases, even life-threatening conditions like brain tumours.
World Sight Day
Morna Scott, director at Specsavers Bathgate, says: 'World Sight Day was a perfect opportunity for us to encourage the community of Bathgate to take better care of their eyes.
‘Eye exams are an important part of your overall health routine.
'Some people wait until they experience symptoms to see an optometrist but shouldn't because many eye problems are silent - meaning they have no symptoms.
'That’s why it’s essential to take care of your sight by having your eyes tested.'
