Specsavers Swanley welcomed a very special guest recently in the form of local MP, Sir Michael Fallon.

Sir Michael dropped into the Swanley Square Shopping Centre store to try out their optical coherence tomography (OCT) machine – hospital grade technology on the high street which allows the team to identify eye conditions up to four years earlier than previous imaging methods allow.

The additional test involves having a detailed 3D picture taken of the eye, and is quick and painless. It costs just £10.

A word from the store director

Faheem Ayub, store director in Swanley, said: ‘It was a real pleasure to welcome Sir Michael to our store, and we hope he really enjoyed our time with us.

‘At least 50% of sight loss is preventable. The sooner a problem is spotted the sooner it can be treated, minimising the risk of further damage. We know that our OCT machine gives our patients a much greater degree of peace of mind about their eye health which is, of course, priceless.’
