Specsavers Audiologists in Dumbarton has raised more than £200 for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.

To mark National Deaf Awareness Week last month, staff at the Specsavers store on High Street organised a day focused on audiology – and generous customers raised £247 for the charity in the process.

Doggie health check

At the event, the store’s pre-registration audiologist Elizabeth Deeney held health screenings and wax checks, and Specsavers’ ‘big ear’ also popped in for a visit.

The money raised go towards sponsoring a hearing dog puppy, and will help fund training before puppies are paired with their partners.

A word from our store director

Specsavers Dumbarton store director Robin Mitchell said: ‘Hearing Dogs for Deaf People is a fantastic charity and the dogs involved are a vital part of life for many people across the UK.

‘Our hearing-focused day gave customers the chance to talk to our audiologist and find out more about the service we provide. It was a great success – thank you to everyone who donated.’

Specsavers Audiologists and Hearing Dogs for Deaf People celebrated 10 years of partnership earlier this year.
