Local lady, Liz Cole, has good reason to have a smile on her face. The 42-year-old has just celebrated her fifteenth anniversary at the store.

Long-standing member of the team

Having begun her career in September 1999, Liz worked her way up the ranks from DA to supervisor and assistant manager, before becoming store manager.

Liz, who lives in Ewell with her partner of 24 years, David, and their children, Natasha and Jasmine, said: ‘I love working with such a fantastic team. I really enjoy going to work every day as I’m surrounded by lovely people and I know that each day will be completely different to the one before. It’s hard to believe I’ve been here for 15 years!’

Chef-turned-optical advisor

But Liz was not always destined for a career in optics. She trained as a chef before joining Specsavers, but still loves to bake tasty treats to take to work – much to the delight of her colleagues.

A little bit of advice

Liz added: ‘Within the optical industry there are so many different options. I would say it would be a good idea to take your time and really think about what you want out of your career. At Specsavers there are so many different avenues to choose from, from working in the contact lens department, to dispensing optician or retail director. One thing’s for sure, it’s never a dull day for me.’
