Little Ards customers in the frame for fundraising
Little customers visiting Specsavers Newtownards during the month of August dug deep for charity, raising over £100 for local disadvantaged children.
Colouring in for a good cause
In the final month of the school holidays, over 100 local children visiting the store donated £1 each to local children’s charity, Cash for Kids, and coloured in characters including Disney’s Minnie and Mickey Mouse, and Marvel’s Iron Man to be in with a chance of winning a host of prizes, from Disney’s Frozen character dolls to Iron Man robot figures, as well as goodie bags and vouchers to spend in store.
The winning children - Sarah Anderson (7) from Portaferry, Adam Fisher (5) from Newtownards, Leah Kerr (8) from Comber and Max Carroll (10) from Newtownards – each paid their £1, to colour in, in aid of Cash for Kids.
A great success
Leigh Nelson, store director at the Newtownards opticians said: ‘In the final month of the summer holidays, we encouraged our little customers to get their eyes tested before school starts again.
This year, we gave them a little colouring-in challenge and they all enjoyed it, and really showed their compassion by donating to Cash for Kids. Over 100 kids got involved, so we raised over £100.’
Frozen in the frame
The successful activity comes as Specsavers launches a brand new range of children’s glasses featuring the iconic Elsa, Anna and Olaf characters from Disney’s Frozen, complementing the already hugely popular Disney series available in store, which includes such iconic characters as The Little Mermaid’s Ariel, and Cinderella.
At Specsavers all under-16s get a free NHS eye test. All glasses in Specsavers’ kids’ £64 and teens’ £85 ranges are free with under-16s’ NHS funding. Specs wearers can also choose a second pair from the £64 or £85 range, free.
