Lincoln opticians knit for premature babies

Knitted hats for premature babies

Staff members at a local opticians have been knitting recently in aid of a premature baby unit.

Ladies from Specsavers in Lincoln have dug out their knitting needles and have created a host of handmade baby items, including cardigans, hats and blankets. These items will now be donated to the premature baby unit on the maternity ward at Lincoln County Hospital.

George Gillanders, the optometrist and store director at Lincoln in Specsavers, said: ‘Some of our team members here have seen first-hand the fantastic work that the doctors and nurses on the premature baby unit.

‘They’ve all worked really hard to produce the items of clothing and blankets, and the team at the unit were very grateful when we dropped them off.
