Staff from Specsavers Lichfield laced up their running shoes to take part in Race for Life on Sunday 23 June, raising nearly £400.
Five members of staff from Specsavers at 43 Market Street travelled to Sutton Coldfield to make a stand against cancer, by running the 5km route. The team: optical assistant’s Abbie Haire, Bernie Turvey, Jayne Wilson, Lisa Rowe and dispensing optician Fran Davies, aimed to raise £200 for Cancer Research UK. However, they nearly doubled their desired total reaching £370, with donations still being pledged.
‘The team and I thoroughly enjoyed the day, especially knowing that it’s for a cause close to our hearts,’ said Abbie. ‘The amount raised has exceeded our expectations, and we’re very grateful for our friends, family and local community for sponsoring us.’
A word from the store director
Praful Patel, Lichfield Specsavers store director, says; ‘It’s fantastic seeing the team come together to support a charity, and it’s even better that our local customers supported us. The team smashed their fundraising target, and if anyone would still like to make a donation, please pop into the store to find our collection boxes.’
