Staff at Specsavers Pembroke Dock have been inspiring the next generation of opticians, recently welcoming the under 11s Pembroke RFC team to the store.
Store directors, Ellie Thomas-Wigley and Andrew Williams, ran interactive sessions with the group of 15, which included demonstrating common eye conditions using simulation spectacles.
The team taught the children about the importance of eye health in sport, as well as the various optical and audiology roles available, while providing fun and interactive demonstrations of key equipment.
The store has sponsored the team, so each player has a Specsavers-branded hoodie for the season. A pair of designer frames were also donated for a raffle aimed at raising funds for the team.
‘Optimum sport performance’
‘It’s great to see youngsters have such enthusiasm when it comes to keeping fit and we’re delighted to sponsor them,’ Mrs Thomas-Wigley says. ‘Good eye health is imperative for optimum sport performance and wearing the right protection for your eyes, if needed, is key to keeping them healthy.
‘Andrew and I are passionate about building awareness of kids’ eye health and we hope our interactive session achieved that.’
