Specsavers in Leigh showed their support for the community with a helpful donation to a local youth rugby team.
Sport-mad staff in Specsavers Leigh were keen to do their part for Leigh U14 Tigers, and made a contribution which has allowed them to buy new waterproof training tops, water bottles and first aid kits.
Store manager Mathew Averall and store director Rumit Patel joined the team at a training session on Wednesday 10 February to get a look at the teams’ new kit, and sharpen up their rugby skills by joining in with some of the training activities.
Andy Kerboas, head coach of Leigh U14 Tigers, said: ‘The generous donation from Specsavers was incredibly kind and has allowed us to purchase much needed kit. The main thing was definitely the waterproof training tops, which allow the team to keep warm and dry as they warm up and train, pre-match.
‘The team have been going from strength to strength and this donation will allow us to stay on that path.’
Keen to support
Mathew Averall, store manager in Leigh Specsavers said: ‘Leigh is an incredibly tight-knit community, particularly when it comes to cheering on some of the local sports teams. This is a team of genuinely talented kids, and the entire Specsavers team were eager to support them in any way we could.
‘The team have put us through our paces today, and Rumit and I are really looking forward to watching the team at their next match!’
