Specsavers group in Cardiff has been reaccredited with Investors in People’s (IIP) highest accolade, Gold status.
Effective people management
IIP is an independent award for an organisation that demonstrates how well it achieves success through its engagement and empowerment of its people at every level.
Gold status is awarded to those organisations that perform at the highest level in all areas of the business, and this is done through the pride and commitment of all of its employees who feel engaged and valued.
The criteria for Gold status is challenging, but Specsavers Cardiff met the criteria at every level to achieve the award.
IIP said of Specsavers Cardiff: ‘They are a truly cutting-edge organisation operating at the highest level of people management practice. People are treated with respect and consideration.’
Store partner, Frank Moloney, said: ‘All four of our Cardiff practices have a very different dynamic and feel, so we feel we are at an advantage when it comes to being able to facilitate members of the team who are happier in one environment than another, in both the optical and hearing business. There are also different opportunities in the different environments and we celebrate both individual and group success at every opportunity.
‘Individual progression is very important to us and we currently have a number of people who are preparing themselves, with our help, to move on to their own practices. We also heavily invest in training opticians and currently have seven trainee opticians, some of whom will leave and move on to other opportunities. This is obviously a loss to us but is made up for by the training and learning environment this creates, which encourages everyone to aspire to excellence. In short we are very proud to have achieved this award.’
